The highly anticipated 4th Generation Tablo app for Apple TV is now available!
Owners of 4th Generation Tablo whole-home DVRs with supported Apple TV streaming devices can now visit the Apple App Store and download the Tablo app.
What You Can Expect
With the 4th Generation Tablo app for Apple TV, you can enjoy live and recorded TV from over 100 channels on any of the compatible Apple TV devices in your home.
The overall design will be familiar to anyone using other 4th Generation Tablo apps including:
- A home screen highlighting favorites, recent recordings and recommendations.
- The familiar live TV grid guide so you can see what’s on now and over the next two weeks.
- And the streaming-style guides that let you browse upcoming TV shows, movies and sports.
We also have the following new features:
- Revamped library and series information screens that make it even easier to flip between completed and scheduled recordings as well as upcoming airings.
- A streaming-style guide for live and upcoming news and newsmagazine broadcasts.
- Dedicated screens for identifying and solving recording conflicts and deleting failed recordings.
Expect these Apple TV enhancements in our other apps soon.
Supported Apple TV Models and the 4th Generation App
The 4th Generation Tablo app for Apple TV is supported on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices.
To download the app, select the App Store icon from the home screen of your Apple TV.
In the search field, type TABLO and select the dark blue Tablo app. The orange and white app is for our legacy devices.
The app will locate and connect to your Tablo as long as it’s on the same home network as your device.

Top Shelf Integration
Once you’ve downloaded the Tablo app for Apple TV and connected to your Tablo, you can also take advantage of Apple’s ‘top shelf’ feature.
By moving the Tablo app into the top row of apps on the home page, you can launch directly into a selection of popular live TV shows and your most recent recordings.
A Note About Player Software
Like other 4th Generation Tablo apps in the Apple ecosystem, this app does not use the built-in tvOS player software. This is because Apple products do not support the playback of MPEG-2 video natively.
For this reason, specialized player software is required. This player software is not able to differentiate between live streams and in-progress recordings as they both do not have specific start and end points.
Therefore, playback of in-progress recordings cannot be started from the beginning of the program.
Tablo Apps for Samsung & LG Also Now Available
