We hope you enjoy the following guest post from Melissa Morell, the social media manager at Roku.
A lot of Tablo Blog readers use Roku players and Roku TVs to watch live and recorded TV through the Tablo Roku channel. There’s so much more you can do on the Roku platform though. Here are some tips and tricks to make your Roku streaming experience better than ever!
Did we miss any of your favorite Roku features? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook.
1. WATCH AND RECORD OVER-THE-AIR (OTA) LIVE TV
As you (hopefully!) know, Tablo + Roku + digital antenna = a DVR for TV Lovers. This combo makes it easy to discover, record and stream free, local OTA TV broadcast programs. Click here to learn more about how Tablo works and here to see which OTA channels are available in your area.
2. PRIVATE LISTENING VIA MOBILE
Watching TV and don’t want to disturb the rest of the house? Audio is key to your entertainment experience – plug headphones into your smartphone or tablet and listen as loud as you like through the free Roku mobile app for your iOS® or Android™ devices.
3. ENABLE NIGHT LISTENING MODE
Movies and TV shows can have a wide range of sounds. Night listening mode is an audio feature available on Roku Premiere, Roku Premiere+ and Roku Ultra that allows you to watch movies and TV shows without disturbing others nearby. When night listening mode is enabled, the volume of soft sounds like whispering is increased while the volume of loud sounds like explosions is decreased.
4. SHARE PHOTOS AND MORE ON YOUR TV
Easily share photos, videos and music from your compatible smartphone or tablet right to your TV. Enjoy fantastic slideshows and videos starring you and your friends and loved ones on the big screen. You and your friends can even share and enjoy photos and videos from your mobile devices at the same time. Tap the “Photos+” tab on the Roku mobile app for iOS® and Android™ to get started.
5. NEVER LOSE THE REMOTE AGAIN!
The lost remote finder, found on Roku Ultra, is a feature to help you locate your Roku remote when it’s lost or misplaced. Simply press the small remote-shaped button on top of the player to send a signal and your remote will emit a beeping sound.
Happy Streaming!
