Today’s question is from Alex who says, “I see there’s a new button in the settings screen of my Tablo app labeled ‘update guide’. What does it do?”
Thanks to some recent updates, the settings screen of all 4th generation Tablo apps now includes an ‘update guide’ button, as well as details as to when the guide was last updated.
In the early morning hours, your Tablo will perform daily basic maintenance including downloading TV guide data from the servers at Tablo HQ. This ensures that you always have a full 14 days of TV guide data in your Tablo apps and that any schedule changes for previous days are reflected.
Therefore your ‘last updated’ details should always be within the last 24 hours. If not, this means your Tablo was offline or otherwise unable to reach the internet during its maintenance window. Pressing the ‘update guide’ button will trigger the update process outside of that early morning time frame.
This is also helpful if, for example, a major news event causes large shifts in the schedules of major networks. Triggering a guide update before your overnight maintenance period occurs can sometimes help you to see those changes sooner and tweak your viewing or recording schedule if needed.
However, this button will not help with missing or incorrect guide data issues. If you do have channels within your lineup with guide data problems, please contact Tablo support with details including your zip code and Tablo’s serial number. We will do our best to get these corrected with our guide provider, but this is not always possible.
